The Root Words translation duo

Information isn't a one-way street. Organizations operating in Latin America and the Caribbean often need translation in both directions--from Spanish to English and the other way around. With this in mind, Root Words owner Stephanie Ament joined forces with translator Joselyne Hoffmann to better meet their respective clients' needs. Stephanie works from Spanish into her native language of English, and Joselyne from English into her native language of Spanish. The two provide quality assurance checks on one another's work. With this duo at the helm, you know your content is in good hands.

To date, Stephanie and Joselyne have collaborated on more than 600 documents, in addition to their individual freelance and in-house work.

"Words are my passion. I love the way they move through time, combine and connect, bounce across borders. The words we choose can mean the difference between being heard and being understood. When clarity and creativity unite, our words can do great things."

In the last twenty years, Stephanie has worked in both the U.S. and Latin America as a freelance and in-house writer, translator, and editor and has more than a decade of experience in the international development sector, with a focus on housing and human settlements. She has a B.A. in Creative Writing and an M.A. in Spanish>English Translation and Interpreting Studies.
